MY FAMILY toasts the filming of 100th episode
The all-star cast raise a glass to celebrate joining the 100 Club
Stars of the award-winning hit sit-com My Family, took a break from filming today to celebrate the landmark 100th episode. Robert Lindsay, Zoë Wanamaker, Daniela Denby-Ashe, Gabriel Thomson, Siobhan Hayes and the crew of this ratings winner downed tools to raise a toast to the hugely successful series.
The show has clocked up the impressive 100 episodes in only eight years, and is only one of three ‘modern day’ sitcoms to reach the 100 mark. The other successful two are; Last of the Summer Wine (1973–2007) with 267 episodes over the 30 year period and Birds of a Feather (1989–1998), which just nudged past the big number with 102 episodes.
To celebrate the milestone, DLT Entertainment, producer of the hit series, will be presented a plaque by The British Comedy Society in recognition of the success of the show. In addition, the world famous Pinewood Studios – a place that the show has called home for the last eight series – will also be honouring the show with a plaque.
Don Taffner Jr, President of DLT Entertainment and executive producer of My Family commented; “Today’s announcement confirms the status of My Family as one of Britain’s long- standing and best-loved sitcoms. We’re delighted and honoured that the show has also been acknowledged by both The British Comedy Society and Pinewood Studios. The continued success of the show boils down to not only the fantastic writing but also the brilliant comedic performances from all our lead actors and I would like to extend my thanks to Robert Lindsay, Zoë Wanamaker, Daniela Denby-Ashe, Gabriel Thomson, Siobhan Hayes and Rhodri Meiler for their fantastic contribution towards making My Family the triumph it is.”
Series eight of the hit family show aired on BBC One in April this year and fans can look forward to a Christmas Special at the end of the year, followed by series nine in spring 2009.
My Family is produced by DLT Entertainment UK in association with Rude Boy Productions for BBC One.
