DLT Expands with Appointment of Rohan Acharya

London 02 May 2011. Award-winning production and distribution company, DLT Entertainment, has confirmed the appointment of Rohan Acharya to the newly-created role of Producer based in its London office.

Rohan joins DLT from ITV Studios where he was a Producer in the Comedy Department from 2006, producing, directing and devising a wide range of comedy formats. His many credits include co-developing and producing White Van Man for BBC 3.

Rohan will be tasked with developing and producing both narrative and non-narrative scripted programmes as well as non-scripted comedy entertainment programmes for UK broadcasters, reporting to Don Taffner Jr, President of DLT Entertainment. Taffner said of the appointment: “Rohan is an energetic, creative and focused producer. His flair for formats and scripts and his ability to identify and nurture new talent is second to none and his extensive TV, Theatre and Radio experience will be an enormous asset to DLT’s growing business. We are fortunate that our success allows us to expand our operations at a time that other companies have had to cut back.”

Prior to joining ITV, Rohan held a number of positions in the BBC Comedy Department from 2004 to 2006 including Researcher, Director and Associate Producer and sat on the comedy board of Creative Futures. In tandem with his TV work, Rohan is an Edinburgh Festival veteran, having produced, directed and devised many innovative comedy shows every year since 1999 notably co-directing Brendon Burns's Edinburgh Comedy Award Winning Show, 'So I Suppose This is Offensive Now.' Over the years he has worked with some of the biggest names in comedy entertainment including Sean Lock, Joanna Page, Dara O'Briain, Noel Fielding, Shappi Khorsandi, Rhod Gilbert, Dexter Fletcher, John Bishop, Lee Mack, Tim Minchin, Will Mellor, Ed Byrne, Sarah Silverman and Eddie Izzard to name but a very few. In the West End he recently produced, together with DLT’s sister company The Theatre of Comedy, Comedy Rush at London’s Shaftesbury Theatre.

Acharya said: “I’m thrilled to be joining DLT – it has the scale and ambition you’d hope for in an organisation of its calibre and reputation, and above all retains a verve for creativity ideally suited to my passion for bringing fresh and vital comedy talent to broadcast.”
