Andre Butts Named DLT Entertainment's Director of Public Television Sales

New York July 07 2012. Andre Butts has been named Director of Public Television Sales for DLT Entertainment, according to company president Don Taffner, Jr. Butts, who will oversee station sales of the DLT catalog, was most recently Program Director at NJN Public Television in Trenton, NJ, where he was responsible for program acquisitions and supervising the station’s programming operations.

“We’re delighted to have Andre on our team and look to him to continue our growth in the public television sector,” said Taffner. “He brings with him a strong background in public television and a keen understanding of the programming it requires.”

At DLT, Butts will handle station sales of the DLT catalog, which includes the UK’s most popular sitcom My Family; as well as Miranda, which won the Best New Comedy and People’s Choice for Miranda Hart at the 2011 British Comedy Awards and stars in the upcoming Call the Midwife on PBS; also such classics such as Executive Stress, Rumpole of the Bailey, Fresh Fields and Benny Hill.

Andre most recently held the position of Program Director at NJN Public Television in Trenton, New Jersey. This statewide public television network served approximately three million TV households in New Jersey. He was responsible for managing a departmental consisting of five employees in programming, operations and traffic, an annual operating budget of $1.6M (FY’08); acquiring programs and producing NJN’s program schedule. Andre was the negotiator and buyer of programming from independent producers as well as national and international program distributors. He evaluated programming and advised NJN’s producers and senior management on issues of program development, scheduling, promotion and the future of media.

Butts joined NJN Public Television as Producer Director, in October of 1989. During is employment at NJN he has directed live and recorded productions including fundraising productions, news events and supervised day to day programming operations as Program Manager.

Prior to joining NJN, Butts was Producer/Director at WTSP-TV, Tampa/St. Petersburg and KMST-TV Monterey/Salinas California, where he directed newscasts and specials. Butts has been involved in various phases of television production, promotion for over 20 years. He has also evaluated program proposals for Independent Television Service and National Black Programming Consortium. He has been a trustee of the Black Maria Film Festival, an Academy Award qualifying festival for short films.
