The BBC and DLT Entertainment set to make Meet My Folks (working title)

UK version of hit show to go into production in the autumn

(London October 31, 2002) BBC Entertainment and DLT Entertainment have jointly acquired the format rights to hit US show Meet MyFolks from NBC Enterprises and US producer Nash Entertainment.

The UK version, Meet My Folks (working title) goes into production later this year to be shown on BBC ONE in 2003. During a long weekend, three contestants are put to the test through a series of revealing conversations and interactions with the parents of their potential love match. The ultimate victor will enjoy a week in an exotic location with his dream date - IF he or she gets the parent's blessing!

The three guys or girls must endure surprising revelations and embarrassing situations to win their potential date’s affections and the parents' trust. One contestant is eliminated after a full day with Mom and Dad; the remaining challengers are surprised with a series of heart-pounding tests.

The series has been commissioned by Lorraine Heggessey, Controller BBC ONE and Jane Lush, Controller Entertainment Commissioning. DLT Entertainment will produce for the BBC with Don Taffner Jr and John Bartlett executive producing the series. Nash Entertainment’s Bruce Nash will serve as consulting executive producer.

Meet My Folks was a ratings success in the US on NBC this summer and additional episodes have already been ordered for midseason.

Jane Lush, Controller Entertainment Commissioning said: “We’re looking forward to continuing our great relationship with DLT who make the hugely successful My Family and As Time Goes By for BBC ONE.”

"We are pleased to work with the BBC and DLT on bringing this ratings winner to the UK and help meet the growing demand for quality formats with strong demographic appeal," said Jerry Petry, Executive Vice President NBC Enterprises.

Don Taffner Jr, Vice President of DLT Entertainment added: "Meet The Folks is an original take on the dating show format. We are delighted to have concluded this deal with NBC to bring this format to the BBC and we are confident it will be as much a success in the UK as it has been in the US."
