DLT ENTERTAIMENT BRINGS HIT COMEDY SERIES TO MIP-TV 2004
Concludes new sales for My Family, High Stakes and A Tribute to Spike

Entertainment is attending this year’s MIP-TV with a number of its highly
successful comedies. My Family, High Stakes and A Tribute to Spike will all be
on offer along with As Time Goes By, Going Buggs! and Going Home.
Headlining the slate is hit sitcom My Family
produced by DLT Entertainment UK in association with Rude Boy Productions for
BBC ONE. The fifth series of the popular comedy is currently in production in
the UK and the latest 28 episodes have been snapped up by YTV in Canada. This
deal follows DLT’s success last year in cracking the competitive German market
selling the format rights to the long-running programme to RTL and to Poland’s
My Family is created by Fred
Barron, written by a team of writers and stars highly acclaimed actors Robert
Lindsay and Zoë Wanamaker. The new episodes are written by an experienced team
of writers, headed by James Hendrie and Ian Brown.
The series has developed a dedicated
viewership both in the UK and internationally, with sales concluded in
Australia, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, Dubai, Eire, Estonia, Finland, France,
Germany, Holland, Iceland, Israel, Kenya, Kuwait, New Zealand, Norway, Poland,
Romania, Slovenia, South Africa and Sweden. DLT Entertainment has the worldwide
format rights to the series and BBC Worldwide and DLT jointly handle finished
My Family focuses on
the life of Ben Harper, a moderately successful family man and dentist. He is
also undergoing a mid-life crisis and trying to cope with the bizarre reality of
raising his three, very different, teenage children.
Comedy drama series High Stakes produced for
ITV in the UK is also on offer. The 12 x half hour series from DLT Entertainment
stars Richard Wilson and Jack Shepherd as two British bankers caught up in the
dog-eat-dog world of international finance. DLT has just concluded a home
entertainment deal with Canada’s Vision for the show.
One off special A Tribute to Spike, which
has just been licensed for video by Umbrella in Australia, features the Square
Smile charity event of the same name. The programme contains a host of
well-known British comedy stars including Harry Enfield, Eddie Izzard, Michael
Palin, Terry Jones and Eric Sykes. A Tribute to Spike is available in both a
60-minute and a 90-minute format.
Other programmes available at the market
include hit comedy As Time Goes By, Going Buggs! a unique animated property, and
moving documentary Going Home.
Entertainment is bringing a total of 66 half hours of the ratings winning series
As Time Goes By to this year’s market. Produced by DLT Entertainment UK Ltd in
association with its sister company The Theatre of Comedy, the show stars Dame
Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer as old flames Jean Pargetter and Lionel
Their love story was set
for a happy ending in the 1950s when Jean was a student nurse and Lionel was a
young army officer. But, Lionel was posted abroad and they lost touch.
Thirty-eight years later through a strange coincidence they are reunited and the
flame of passion shows it can still flicker in middle age. DLT Entertainment has
split distribution rights with BBC Worldwide as well as international format
rights to the series.
Going Buggs! is
an innovative cell animated comic action fantasy series created by Al Guest and
Jean Mathieson, whose previous work has aired on CBS, HBO and the BBC. Magic
Shadows Inc and Red Rocket Animation have co-produced the 13 x 30-minute series
which tells the tale of a web-surfing brother and sister who, without warning,
are caught up in a quantum storm. Finding themselves in an alternative universe,
which is ruled by bugs who are hooked on 50’s music, they are forced to call on
all their computer skills to survive.
Concluding DLT Entertainment’s line-up of
shows for the market is documentary Going Home. The 60-minute special offers an
insight into women in prison exploring the idea that “over one third of all
incarcerated women return to prison”. In Going Home, inmates at the Edna Mahan
Correction facility open up their hearts on life inside and their hopes on
Donald Taffner Jr, Vice
