9 x 30’ & 1 x 50’ Christmas Special

London, UK, 14 August 2006: Multi-award winning comedy sitcom, My Family starring Robert Lindsay and Zoë Wanamaker has been commissioned for a seventh series and a Christmas Special for BBC ONE announced Don Taffner Jr today, President of DLT Entertainment. The seventh series will consist of 9 x 30’ episodes, plus a 50 minute Christmas special.

My Family is the UK’s favourite sitcom and the BBC’s most successful home grown hit of recent years. Through its sixth series, the show regularly achieved a viewing share of 30% and above, always winning its Friday night primetime slot, and attracted a host of talented guest stars including Patrick Baladi (Bodies) and Robert Bathurst (Cold Feet).

Tom Anderson (Cheers; Men, Women and Dogs) will serve as show runner for the seventh series, alongside scriptwriters Steve and Jim Armogida from the US, and British writers Paul Minett and Brian Leveson, and Bert Tyler Moore and George Jeffrie.

Don Taffner Jr comments, “I am ecstatic we have been given the opportunity to recreate the Harper magic for a seventh series and a Christmas special. There has been much speculation in the press regarding the death of the traditional sitcom, and this commission is evidence that when you get that magical combination of writing and casting right, traditional sitcoms can still be a much loved and well received form of comedy.”

My Family is produced by DLT Entertainment UK in association with Rude Boy Productions for BBC ONE. Dewi Humphries returns as Director with John Bartlett continuing as Producer.
