DLT/Raydar Rights Announce Raft Of Deals At MIPCOM

Distributor announces new format, finished programme sales and acquisitions on first anniversary

Cannes. 7 October 2013. Indie Distributor DLT/Raydar Rights LLP (DLT/Raydar) today announced a raft of new deals with international broadcasters, one year after the fledgling JV was launched.

Sweden’s public broadcaster SVT is set to make its own version of the innovative Emmy Award winning psychological thriller Reservoir Hill after licensing the format from DLT/Raydar. Local digital indie ART 89 will make 8 episodes for the national broadcaster. The series follows central character Beth who, on moving to a new town with her mother, is the victim of a series of unnerving events.

The groundbreaking drama series offers viewers the chance to shape the story of the show itself by texting advice to protagonist Beth and influencing the plot of the show. DLT/Raydar has international rights to both the finished programme and the format, which is also available as a finished telemovie or series of webisodes.

DLTRaydar also announced the sale of a further 52 episodes of Nick Junior preschool hit Olive the Ostrich to Viacom’s 200 International channels at MIPCOM Junior, in a deal brokered by Viacom International VP of Content and Acquisitions for Nickleodeon and Alison Rayson. The endearing animated series, produced by BAFTA Award Winning Blue Zoo Studio, follows the adventures of a young Ostrich on her imaginary travels to amazing new places.

True Vision Thailand has picked up the second series of tween romantic comedy Girl Vs Boy. The charming family comedy, originally commissioned by New Zealand’s TVNZ, tells the story of Maxine, who loves nothing more than hanging with her friends in her hometown, and helping solve an array of problems and dilemmas.

Announcing the deals, DLTRaydar CEO Alison Rayson said: "We are thrilled to be heading to MIPCOM with such a strong list of deals agreed across so many diverse genres and platforms and from Top notch Indies such as Blue Zoo and KHF."

Multi award winning My Family will also be on offer at MIPCOM as a global scripted format. One of the UK’s most iconic and long-running sitcoms My Family has been a pioneer in its field in that it united a team of British and American writers to huge acclaim.

DLT/Raydar is a joint venture between Raydar Media and DLT Entertainment. The independent distributor, which launched at MIPCOM last year, has been growing its impressive catalogue of finished programmes and formats through this partnership.

New titles DLT/Raydar will be showcasing at MIPCOM include sitcom Marshals Law, a comedy that follows Britain’s most eager, but possibly most inept, community support officer, and his dream of becoming a fully-fledged policeman. Cbeebies hit Magic Hands, a groundbreaking new pre-school series mixing live action with animation, covering a huge variety of classic and modern poetry. The programmes are fun, five-minute episodes that mix sign language, the spoken word, music and vibrant animation to capture the imaginations of both deaf and hearing children.

Don Taffner Jr, President DLT Entertainment said: “Like MIP TV, this is DLT Entertainment’s 50th anniversary and we’re delighted to be bringing our original portfolio combined with new offerings from our recently formed joint venture DLT/Raydar. We look forward to celebrating our momentous anniversary with content to suit every international broadcaster at MIPTV!”

DLT Entertainment’s multi award winning My Family will also be on offer as a global scripted format. One of the UK’s most iconic sitcoms and one of the BBC’s longest ever running sitcoms My Family has been a pioneer in its field in that it united a team of British and American writers to huge acclaim, and the DLT/Raydar team are looking to find deals to use the 127 British scripts to replicate the same success in other markets around the world.

The business will combine our strengths to build a diverse, innovative and original slate from the world’s best format creators and independent producers"
