DLT Entertainment Appoints New Drama Head
London. 14 May 2014. Continuing the expansion of its UK development and production arm, DLT Entertainment (DLT) has appointed leading production exec Margaret Enefer to the newly created role of Head of Drama..
Enefer, who joins DLT this month, will be charged with growing and diversifying the independent producer’s slate of drama content with a focus on original development, adaptations and long-running returning series for UK and international broadcasters.
Enefer will join DLT’s UK production and development team which includes John Bartlett (MY FAMILY), Michaela Hennessey-Vass (former ITV Entertainment commissioner), Robert Katz (currently on secondment producing Rude Tube) and Rohan Acharya (WHITE VAN MAN).
While the distribution arm of DLT licenses all programme genres including drama to UK and worldwide buyers, it’s UK production arm is primarily known as an entertainment producer with such classic hits as Judy Dench’s and Geoffrey Palmer’s AS TIME GOES BY, as well as Robert Lindsay’s and Zoe Wanamaker’s record setting sitcom MY FAMILY. However, DLT does have a history of drama production including the four hour mini-series LOVE ON A BRANCH LINE, starring Leslie Phillips and written by David Nobbs, which was co-produced by DLT for BBC One.
Key to the new push into drama production is DLT’s presence as a leading independent producer and distributor in both The US and UK. Its unparalleled access to writers, directors, and on screen talent as well as commissioners, talent agents, and co-production partners, not only on both sides of the Atlantic but also around the world, gives DLT a unique ability to producer drama in the UK for domestic and international consumption.
Announcing the appointment, DLT President Donald Taffner, Jr., said: “Margaret has a proven track record in spotting and selling great original ideas and producing high quality drama content. Her wealth of experience working for a variety of both in-house production teams and independent producers makes her the perfect candidate to drive our increase in drama output.”
Margaret Enefer added: “I am delighted to be joining DLT as the new Head of Drama. Working with a boutique producer/distributor like DLT offers a wealth of opportunity to develop truly exciting, original projects in the UK and internationally – something which will be a focus for me in the coming months.”
Enefer joins DLT from STV where she was Head of Drama. During her time at STV, Enefer extended the company’s commissioning base and development projects as well as moving into international co-productions and feature films. Enefer was also Executive Producer on a number of titles including The Poison Tree for ITV and long-running returning series Taggart.
Before joining STV Enefer held production roles at the BBC, Granada Television and RDF.
